Lance Bass Opens Up ABout Developing Diabetes During Covid

On an exclusive reveal with PEOPLE, Bass, 44, talked about his struggle with maintaining his health and living a fulfilling life right after he was informed that he had diabetes. “I developed diabetes during COVID, and I’m really trying to figure out how to control that,” the musician expressed himself in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in collaboration with Allegra.

Further into the interview, Bass, a former member of the NSYNC boys band, shared information on how he’s been coping with his current situation. He’s had to look into what he eats and when he eats. “I’m learning what you can eat, when you can eat when you take your insulin — and all that has just been really hard lately.”

Considering that he is a father of two, Bass also revealed that he has had to really work on his other health issues including his allergies, and keep a stable mental state. Other than working out from time to time for about 15 -20 minutes and drinking tons of water, he’s also embraced meditating.

He said that he taught himself how to meditate and it has been helpful. He loves to meditate, especially in the morning to calm his mind with all that’s going on in his life. Furthermore, he’s been participating in hiking too as it helps him feel happy and clear his head. According to him, he thinks hiking is the best thing that helps him with his mental state.

Finally, he expressed his gratitude to Allegra Airways, an app developed to help those with allergies know the cleanest routes to take when exploring the outdoors. As an outdoor enthusiast and allergy sufferer, Lance Bass encourages fellow allergy sufferers to adopt Allegra Airways as a personal assistant whenever they are out and about.
