What is the relationship between Doll Smith and Elvis Presley?

Doll Smith is Elvis’ beloved grandmother. She came into existence in May 1876. Doll’s parents, Martha Sue Tackett Mansell and Albert Mansell named her Ocatavia Luvenia “Doll” Mansell Smith. 

Bob Smith and Doll Smith got married in 1903. Anna Mansell and Mileage Smith were Bob’s parents. They gave birth to him on the 17th of November, 1878. 

Despite the couple earning a low income, they welcomed nine children into the family. Among the kids was Gladys Presley, Elvis’ mom. Being the middle child, Gladys Presley had four brothers and sisters. 

Many of Gladys’ brothers and sisters, including her, died between ages 46 and 58. They all died with a heart or liver-related issue. The same health complications claimed Elvis Presley’s life at 42. So, how did the pattern develop?

How did Doll Smith end up in the position of blame for Elvis’ premature death?

Doll Smith married her cousin Bob Smith. Since the two were first cousins, their relationship led to a genetic flaw, contributing to the early death of their kids. The genetic issue was also passed down to the kids, which eventually caused Elvis’ premature death. 

Despite the blame, note that Doll Smith was born when marrying cousins was common. So, she was following the standard marriage procedures.
